TIME INC. EDITORIAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Time Inc. Editorial Internship Program for Summer 2007 is targeted to undergraduates and graduate level candidates who intend to graduate in May 2008. Students of one-year graduate school programs who graduate in May 2007 are also eligible. All applicants must have strong interest in pursuing a career in journalism. The nine-week summer internships are in New York City on the staff of one of our magazines, such as: Business 2.0, Essensce, Entertainment Weekly, Fortune, Fortune Small Business, In Style, Money, People, People En Español, Real Simple, Sports Illustrated, SI For Kids, and Time. There are a limited number of opportunities in offices outside of New York City. Magazine title assignments are determined by Time Inc.

The program will run from the beginning of June to the beginning of August. This is a paid internship program and Time Inc. will also provide dormitory style housing in New York at a nearby University or a housing stipend.

Most interns perform the duties of reporter/researcher. While they probably will not be writing copy for publication, we do utilize the talents of students with exceptional writing skills. We also welcome applicants for photo editing, photo lab and graphic design. Applications by minority and disabled students are particularly welcome.

As part of the application package, each applicant must provide TWO SEPARATE SETS of the following:

• Cover page including: Name, School, Grad Year, Degree, Top Three Magazine Choices.
• Copy of academic transcript (does NOT have to be an official transcript. If it is an official transcript, please remove it from the sealed envelope prior to including it in your packet.)
• Resume
• 300-word statement of the student's background (school, jobs, activities, interests, recent reading) and
• Two or three writing samples (published work strongly preferred). A maximum of five pages total for all writing samples will be reviewed. All writing samples must be on 8.5 x 11 letter size paper.

If you are applying for photo or design internship, instead of writing samples, please submit your design work or portfolio. Portfolio / design work cannot be submitted on diskettes. (Due to the number of applications we receive, we will not be able to return portfolios).

• INCOMPLETE OR INCORRECTLY SUBMITTED APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

Applicants should designate three top magazine choices for assignment. Final decision on magazine assignment will be determined by Time Inc. based on candidates' background, interest and positions available.
